In the book "The Matrix and Philosophy" by William Irwin, states various perspectives about life, whether life is an illusion or real or not real ? these are questions that are asked frequently. In scene 1 "Computers, Caves and Oracles: Neo and Socrates" talks about a world that people are slaves and they don't even know they are slaves due to the fact that's the only world they know, so for them it's normal. Like the Matrix that's a world Neo hasn't been expose to yet and he needs to see the light in order to believe. Morpheus tells Neo he was "born into a prison of his mind" meaning it's up to Neo to realize that hes the one who can control from what is real or not, theres a quote by Robert Frost's "I took the one less traveled by/ And that has made all the difference" this is exactly what Neo did he took the road less traveled by and lead him to a world where no one was aware of or that he himself couldn't believe in it until he made the choice to "believe", Neo was given the choice to walk away from it all in the beginning but he chose not to.
Many people choose to believe in things they don't even know, because society enforces them to believe in such thing, Morpheus states "What is real ? How do you define real ? If you're talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain", so through out this we see stuggles between charecters trying to define what is real or if its worth living, the only one with the "real" answer is you.

In response to the Matrix they're a lot of elements that can be discuss regarding Neo and Socrates. In the matrix Neo is believed to be the chosen one, the one who can save people and bring a sense of peace to a chaotic world they called the "Matrix", Morpheus who is to be the God of the matrix tries to show Neo the right path, but in the purpose of this search he doesn't believe hes the chosen one just like Socrates said, both of these characters are in search for answers but at the same time they doubt themselves. They both reach out to the Oracle for answers, Socrates believes that hes not the smartest person in the world, while Neo believes hes not the chosen one to save the world. The book "Matrix and philosophy" on page 7 gives an example where the oracle speaks, "He asked if there was anyone wiser than me, and the priestess of Apollo replied that there was no one wiser", this illustrates that both Socrates and Neo were told that they really were the ones. We can also relate to Jesus and Neo going through the same process, Jesus in on hand was chosen by God to save the world, he had followers and he was put through temptation many times but Jesus was able to over come obstacles and full fill his quest to save the world, as for Neo he was giving a chance by the agents for him to work with them, but he refuse to do so. Jesus was betrayed by Judas just like Neo was betrayed by cypher, very similar outcomes, in the end they both obtain the strength to fight evil and prevail. Also in the Allegory of the cave, they're prisoners that are chained against a wall and all the see are shadows that pass behind them, through their eyes that's the only world they know once being expose to the world this prisoner begins to explore it but comes back amaized to tell his freinds but they don't recognize his voice and even worse they cant see him, only through a shadow. The Matrix and the Allegory of the cave are two worlds that people aren't yet expose or are not ready to be so.

I imagine myself living in the Socrotes cave, im still chained up and its very warm due to the fires that are behind me, i don't know what lies before me. There are shadows that i see behind the walls, although i was told those shadows were "real", without me knowing really if they are if i havent seen them. but since i haven't been exposed to such things i woudn't knwo what to expect, i was giving the opportunity to leave the cave and see the outside world, so i proceed with my quest and leave the cave, i discover that theres a sun above me a source of energy. I know where i am and what season of the month it is all through just observing the sun and understand that it is real and im able to see it with my own eyes. So im thankful that i was relased and was able to visualize for myself and understand nature further. I know that i was there and just being stuck in the darkness where i was kept for so long, made me think there was nothing else but darkness. The truth is out there, sometimes it takes courage to go out and see it for yourself

ABOUT ME

My name is jeffrey collazos, i was born in manhattan,NY. I would like to describe myself as a person with a lot of ambition giving that im only 19 years old, my primary goal is to attend John Jay College and major in Criminal Justice, i've always wanted to become a member of the the FDNY and be part of such a bravery group of people, im still willing to pursue that dream by taking the 2011 test wich is giving out every four years. But like many people say "it's always good to have a back-up plan" so i've figured mine would be to study criminal justice and obtain the knowledge to becopme a U.S Marshall, this is something that has cought my attention for these past few months.

I would like to describe as a solid student for the most part, i've done ok throughout High School, although i feel that i had the potential to do much better, i've realized that i need to cut some bad habbits ans create good ones. I know for a fact that i will be a different person when i have completed my four years and get my degree.I don;t know what the future holds of me in five years from now, but i hope is something good and i could be proud of myself.
